Yeah, But It’s Not That Simple…

The caffeine hasn’t kicked in yet… Fuck it, let’s write a blog anyway.

What I thought would be a simple process of recording the screen during a Skype call and syncing it up in post to the other audio and video I recorded isn’t fucking simple at all. The problem with digital recordings of all kinds — at least in my experience — is that there will always some input lag. This probably isn’t the proper words to describe what happens…

Basically, when I try to sync digital recordings up to hardware recordings I can either sync up the end of the recording or the beginning. Something about digital recordings, probably the on the fly processing, make them have a different run time. I feel like I’m not properly describing the issue, but so much for that right now…

I have different way to record to Skype calls through my video game capture device that would involve recording the whole podcast in software instead of hardware. A scary fucking proposition to those of use who know how fickle software can be. But, we will test that next time we have a guest on The Johnny Whitetrash Show.

Is the podcast ruined? No, It’s just more fucking complicated to edit now. I have to use Sony Vegas instead of iMovie, which means longer render times. Extremely longer render times. That’s why I don’t really use Sony Vegas anymore. Don’t get me wrong, the program is slick as shit. iMovie, on the other hand, is so fucking basic it probably drinks Pumpkin Spice Lattes and eats pineapple pizza, but the render times are so fast that I usually make it work.

Now what I have to do is throw everything into Sony Vegas, stretch the files that don’t sync up, and wait the 20 hours it’s going to take to render out the video. The whole time I’ll be fighting off the thought that no one really cares about the video versions of the podcast. It’s a weird situation I put myself in, but I like making videos, okay? And so much for that right now too…

I’m looking at getting a US tax ID number again. Besides wanting to touch up Demon Vikings From Newfoundland, I have two other short stories I really want to work on. Let’s call them Project Phobos and Project Aquarius.

Project Phobos will be set in the same universe as Demon Vikings, but that’s just for me. It’s just cause I can and it really has no overall affect or effect — too early in the morning to deal with which word is grammatically correct — on the story.

Project Aquarius will an idea I’ve been working on for years — LITERALLY FUCKING YEARS — so I don’t really want to talk about it right now…

Demon Vikings From Newfoundland was somewhere between 5000-6000 words when I wrote it. I’ve decided even a short story should be at least 10,000 words if you’re asking people to pay for it. I know of some Amazon Only Authors that write 3000-4000 word short stories and sell them $3-4 ea but, I’m not Chuck Tingle. And so much for all that right now…

The truth is I’m using this blog a procrastination tool. It’s weird though, because I’m still being productive. Don’t hold me to this — because I will most likely let you down — but, I want a new post on this website everyday. If it’s not going to be a podcast then it has to be a blog or a vlog. And fuck all that for right now too…

It’s time to get to work on the fucking video.
